What is the Vision for the AIS Discovery Gym?

Science rarely advances in isolation. The AIS Discovery Gym is a space for the kind of cross-domain conversation that has always been at the heart of breakthrough thinking — brought into the age of AI. Researchers gather to actively practice the craft of discovery: interrogating models, surfacing patterns, and probing the mechanisms hiding in complex data. Sharing sessions invite domain experts to open up their hardest problems to the room — not just to present findings, but to think through them collectively, in real time.

Time and again, these sessions have sparked ideas that neither participant could have reached alone. The Discovery Gym exists to make that happen more often, more deliberately, and across wider boundaries than ever before.

The AIS Discovery Gym is the "people part" of our ecosystem—a collaborative space designed for the kind of cross-domain conversation that has always been at the heart of breakthrough thinking. Here, we focus on asking the ultimate question: what new science becomes possible when AI and domain expertise meet?

Functioning much like a persistent hackathon, the Discovery Gym is where researchers gather to actively practice the craft of discovery. Instead of simply presenting finished findings, domain experts bring their hardest problems to the room to think through them collectively in real-time. By coming together to interrogate AI models and surface hidden patterns in complex data, participants collaborate to restore the hypothesis generation process so that new theories can be formulated and tested
